POSITIONS BY ISABELLE WENZEL
German photographer Isabelle Wenzel sets up surreal scenes in which she requests her sitters to engage in a very physical pose: they hang upside down, contort like acrobats or stick their high-heeled legs out of homemade cardboard constructions. Their faces don’t matter. Often Wenzel works by herself: She presses the self-release and has only 10 seconds to get into position to take the shot. Taking the body as a responsive form, she uses it to capture movements or postures of anonymous posers in a figural moment. You can see the traces of performance art, of her former acrobatic training, of her fascination with movement and power symbols and her obsession with the perfect moment. The result is an ensemble of ironically and humorously charged images, in which the models are suspended between object and subject, alien and known.

Q: If a post has the n-word in it should i (a non black poc) just not reblog it at all?

lordbape:

if it’s a joke post like “niggas be like” you shouldn’t even want to because it’s not for you and not about you and you have no idea what niggas be like nor do you have any reason to pretend to relate to anything else clowning on niggas in general my friend. If it’s an oppression critical post why in the world wouldn’t you star it out on your blog like why are people asking me this as if it’s novel information…? You don’t get to use slurs that aren’t yours so star it out if it’s for the betterment of humanity or don’t touch it

Helsinki-born photographer Osma Harvilahti is absolutely killing it with his studies in colour, composition and visual abstraction. His images are aestheticised so far to the point that reality takes on an almost sculptural feel.

Osma’s photographs seem familiar, almost as though we have already seen or have taken mental screen shots of these images of every day life - clutter in a lounge room, clothes on a washing line, a plate of fruit. It’s this perfect balance between aesthetic and reality that he has found an almost comforting place for the viewer.

Enjoy more of Osma’s work on his Tumblr and Instagram.
